How to congratulate employees tax-free 

A gift given by an employer is tax-free as long as it meets the equirements for the tax exemption of employee gifts. According to the guidelines of the tax administration, a tax-free gift can be given on employees' 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthday, the wedding day and retirement, as well as various farewells. Also, 10 years of service with the employer or an equivalent anniversary of a long-term employment relationship is a legitimate reason to give the employee a tax-free gift. The tax administrations states that an amount equal to a maximum of 1-2 weeks' gross salary of an employee can be counted as a reasonable gift. However, if the salary of an employee celebrating the anniversary varies due to, for example, a commission-based salary, the average gross salary of the previous 12 months can be used to calculate the required gross salary of 1-2 weeks.
